Non toxic paint for walls

Posted by Victoria Yardley on

You may or may not be aware that some standard wall paints can be toxic to humans and the environment, despite this, many people continue to buy paints containing solvents and VOCs. Fortunately, it is possible to buy excellent quality paint without the toxic fumes. Victory Colours have specially formulated an entire collection of non toxic paint for walls.

What makes a non toxic paint for walls

The main reason that paint can be toxic is because of the ingredients it contains which are called volatile organic compounds, also known as VOCs. As the paint dries and the liquid evaporates, these VOCs are released into the air and are toxic to inhale whilst also negatively affecting the environment as VOCs contribute to the ground level ozone layer. Side effects of inhaling VOCs vary in severity depending on how much exposure an individual has had. Here are some of the most common side effects of VOCs:

  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Sickness
  • Skin reaction
  • Eye, throat and nose irritation

By removing these chemicals from the paint, or at least minimising the amount a paint contains, you can avoid the side effects. This is the main way to make a non toxic paint for walls. Victory Colours have specially formulated a non toxic paint for walls with low levels of VOC.
