How to Feel Confident with Colour (Without Repainting Your Whole House)

Posted by Victoria Yardley on

If colour feels exciting and slightly intimidating — you’re not alone.  Most people love the idea of colour, right up until the moment it involves an actual wall.

The best spring redecorating doesn’t start with a full house overhaul. It starts small, manageable, and reassuringly reversible:

  • An eco sample panel rather than a tin (ours are all hand-painted)

  • A hallway or spare room, not the whole house

  • A colour you like in daylight and under a lamp at 8pm

Those small steps matter. They give you information, confidence and clarity — without pressure.

We always say that confidence with colour comes from trying, not committing. Living with a shade for a few days tells you far more than any screen ever could. You’ll notice how it changes with the light, how it works with your furniture, and whether it still feels right when the novelty wears off.

That’s exactly why samples exist. No drama. No pressure. Just a chance to see how a colour actually behaves in your space — before you decide what comes next.

Spring is about fresh starts, after all. Even the walls can take it one step at a time.
